Pm. Ghogomu et al., CALORIMETRIC MEASUREMENT OF MOLAR EXCESS-ENTHALPIES OF DILUTE-SOLUTIONS OF ETHYLBENZENE PLUS HIGHER N-ALKANES, Thermochimica acta, 302(1-2), 1997, pp. 159-164
Flow calorimetry has been used to measure the excess enthalpies (heats
of mixing) of dilute solutions of higher n-alkanes (hexadecane to pen
tacosane) in ethylbenzene. The results show that at constant temperatu
re and composition, h(E) increases with the number of carbon atoms in
the n-alkane molecule. Also, for each alkane, h(E) decreases with incr
easing temperature, at constant composition. A simple analytical expre
ssion is used to represent the variation of h(E) with carbon number n,
composition x, and temperature T in the domain (16 less than or equal
to n less than or equal to 25; x less than or equal to 0.15; 298.15 l
ess than or equal to T less than or equal to 330.00). (C) 1997 Elsevie
