To avoid thermostatting effort in a calorimeter the influence of ambie
nt temperature perturbations on the output signal can be reduced by pr
edicting and correcting the perturbation part of the output signal of
the calorimeter. The prediction can be verified by measuring the tempe
rature perturbations and simulating the corresponding output signal. U
sing a dynamical model of the calorimeter, simple methods for the solu
tion of this problem are shown and tested experimentally. (C) 1997 Els
