Av. Matalin, PECULIARITIES OF CARABID (COLEOPTERA, CAR ABIDAE) SPATIAL-TEMPORAL DIFFERENTIATION IN STEPPE ZONE, Zoologiceskij zurnal, 76(9), 1997, pp. 1035-1045
Information on phenology of sixteen most abundant carabid species in t
he lower Prut river is given. Four phenological groups are distinguish
ed. Some groups includes obligatory species with constant timing of fl
ight migration independently of weather conditions, others incorporate
facultative species, the time of flight activity in which varies to a
greater degree. Some spring-autumn species are referred to the last g
roup. In spring and autumn species the time of flight migration is con
stant. Spatial-temporal differentiation in Clivina, Pseudoophonus and
Stenolophus species in the steppe zone are discussed. Different timing
of maximum flight activity promotes differentiating the related speci
es in space and time. Periods of maximum flight activity in the specie
s inhabiting similar sites never coincide in time resulting in their e
ffective using the environment.
