J. Kemtchou et al., GAIN TEMPERATURE-DEPENDENCE OF ERBIUM-DOPED SILICA AND FLUORIDE FIBERAMPLIFIERS IN MULTICHANNEL WAVELENGTH-MULTIPLEXED TRANSMISSION-SYSTEMS, Journal of lightwave technology, 15(11), 1997, pp. 2083-2090
The temperature dependence of the gain of aluminosilica and fluoride b
ased erbium-doped fiber amplifiers are theoretically and experimentall
y examined and compared, As expected from the larger temperature depen
dence of erbium-doped fluoride fibers (EDFF) cross sections [1], the s
ingle channel gain of EDFF amplifiers presents larger wavelength-depen
dent temperature sensitivity. The implications of this large and nonun
iform temperature dependence of the gain on wavelength-division multip
lexing (WDM) are theoretically analyzed and discussed.
