The reaction of niobocene trihydride [Cp2NbH3] with ClPbMe3 in the pre
sence of amine affords the plumbido dihydride complex [Cp(2)NbH2(PbMe3
)] (1). Compound 1 represents the first example of a stable complex wi
th neighbouring hydride and terminal plumbyl substituents. The structu
re of this compound has been established by NMR and IR spectroscopy an
d confirmed by an X-ray structure analysis.
