To overcome the limitations of the existing UNIFAC-type group-contribu
tion models presented in part 1, two empirical approaches are presente
d. They both involve adjustment of the pure-compound parameters of the
compounds involved which, while reducing the general character of the
group-contribution approach, can lead to very satisfactory results wh
en applicable. Such an approach is successfully applied to the correla
tion and prediction of mutual solubility data in water/hydrocarbon mix
tures.
