Abstract
The reaction of bis(triphenylstannyl)sulfur diimide 1 with water in CH 2Cl2 provides an alternative route to bis(triphenylstannyl)sulfite 2, affording crystalline material suitable for structural analysis (monoc linic, space P2(1)/n). The sulfite 2 is monomeric in solution but form s polymeric chains in the solid state with both tetra-and penta-coordi nate tin atoms.
