The cyclo-phosphazenium bromide [(Ph2PC2H4PPh2)N]Br has been prepared
by the reaction of bromine with Ph2PC2H4PPh2NSiMe3 and subsequent elim
ination of BrSiMe3 in boiling acetonitrile. According to a crystal str
ucture determination the compound contains bromide ions and cations wi
th a P2C2N heterocycle in a twist conformation with PN bond lengths of
160.6(3) and 161.5(3) pm. Space group Pna2(1), Z = 4, lattice dimensi
ons at -70 degrees C: a = 1702.5(3), b = 1280.8(3), c = 1056.9(2) pm,
R = 0.030.
