Abstract
Boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) is a binary type of tumor therapy which utilizes the special properties of the boron-10 nucleus to capt ure thermal neutrons and undergo a nuclear disintegration. It can be u sed successfully when boron-loaded compounds can deliver the required amounts of boron to the tumor cells. Several classes of boron-containi ng compounds have been prepared and used in preliminary screening expe riments. Their development poses a challenge to the chemist.
