Crack-free K(Sr0.75Ba0.25)(2)Nb5O15 (KSBN75) thin films were successfu
lly synthesized by the chemical solution deposition method. A homogene
ous and stable precursor solution was prepared by controlling the reac
tion of metallo-organics. KSBN75 precursor powders were directly cryst
allized in the tetragonal tungsten bronze phase without formation of a
low-temperature phase above 650 degrees C. KSBN75 thin films on MgO(1
00) and Pt(100)/MgO(100) also crystallized in the tetragonal tungsten
bronze phase with preferred c-axis orientation at 700 degrees C. Two c
rystal lattice planes of KSBN75 were intergrown at an orientation of 1
8.5 degrees on MgO(100) and Pt(100)/MgO(100) substrates. The Curie poi
nt of KSBN75 thin film was around 70 degrees C at 10 kHz. KSBN75 thin
films on Pt(100)/MgO(100) substrates exhibited typical P-E hysteresis.
