Abstract
Biomass dynamics of cultures of marine microalgae Prorocentrum micans, Platymonas viridis and Skeletonema costatum was studied in the presen ce of cadmium at 1-100 (g/ml. Algae with different life strategies had a different survival rate in the presence of the toxicant. Maintenanc e of the growth of S. costatum explerent was due to physiological adap tation of P. viridis violent and P. micas patient to physiological ada ptation and selection of resistant individuals.
