IMPROVING DYNAMIC-RESPONSE OF POWER-FACTOR PREREGULATORS BY USING 2-INPUT HIGH-EFFICIENT POSTREGULATORS

A new method to improve dynamic response of power-factor preregulators (PFP's) is developed in this paper. The method is based on the use of a very high efficient postregulator with two inputs instead of only o ne. This two-input postregulator exhibits very high efficiency due to the fact that only a part of the total power undergoes a power-convers ion process. They need two-output PFP's at their inputs, which can be easily obtained in PFP's with transformers or with two PFP's working i n parallel.
