Abstract
A new species, Megastigmus thyoides Kamijo (Hymenoptera: Torymidae), w hich emerged from seeds of Atlantic white cedar, Chamaecyparis thyoide s (L.) B.S.P., collected in eastern United States is described and ill ustrated. This is the first record of this genus exploiting seeds of C upressaceae in the Nearctic region. An average of 7% of the seeds coll ected from five sites in North Carolina were infested with this seed c halcid.
