Phthalocyanineiron(II) (FePc) was synthesized in FeY zeolite supercage
with acid sites. Mossbauer spectroscopy was employed to determine the
yield of FePc(py)2 produced by contact of FePc with pyridine in it. A
lthough the supercage had enough space to form Fepc(py)2, the yield wa
s very low. This indicates that pyridine molecule preferably binds to
the acid site rather than to the FePc molecules in the supercage with
the acid sites. The reactivity of FePc in the zeolite supercage may be
controlled by the preparation procedure chosen, which influences the
number of acid sites. The degree of aggregation of FePc also affects t
he formation of FePc(py)2.
