Hl. Hongwengao,"shi, STUDY OF ABSORBENCY OF THE ALUMINUM CHROME AZUROL S-COMPLEX IN SOLUTION, Journal of analytical chemistry, 52(11), 1997, pp. 1045-1048
The reaction between aluminum(III) and Chrome Azurol S (GAS) at pH 5 w
as reinvestigated. It was shown that the optical properties of the com
plex permit trace amounts of aluminum in water from a coalmine well to
be determined sensitively and accurately. It was found that the ordin
ary spectrophotometric method gives no satisfactory results. The beta-
correction principle and the updated theory can be applied to determin
ing the characteristic parameters of the chelate. The molar absorptivi
ty and the instability constant of the chelate were evaluated. The res
ults showed that the dependence of the absorbance at 620 mm on the Al
concentration is described well by a logarithmic function; however the
corrected absorbance at 580 nm is a Linear function of the element co
ncentration. The analysis of minewell waters showed that the recovery
of Al was 92-110% (at 620 nm) and 92-107% (at 580 nm), and the relativ
e standard deviation was less than 4.5% (at 620 nm) and 2.4% (at 580 n
m).
