H. Nafe, CURRENT-VOLTAGE RELATION AND CHARGE-DISTRIBUTION IN MIXED IONIC-ELECTRONIC SOLID CONDUCTORS, Journal of the Electrochemical Society, 144(11), 1997, pp. 3922-3929
A comparison is made regarding the derivation and the results of two a
pproaches known from the literature that aim at the current-voltage re
lations for ions and electrons as well as the spatial charge or conduc
tivity distribution in a mixed ionic-electronic conductor. As a result
, the relationships that were published some time ago are revealed to
be completely equivalent to the outcome of the classical theory of Wag
ner including the extensions put forward by Choudhury and Patterson. W
ith respect to practical use, the formulas according to Wagner, Choudh
ury, and Patterson even have a somewhat higher information content tha
n the relationships emerging from the more recent approach.
