The first flavone-xanthone C-glucoside, swertifrancheside, was isolate d from Suertia franchetiana, and its structure was elucidated on the b asis of spectroscopic analysis as -beta-D-glucopyranosyl-4'-oxy-8'-fla vyl)-xanthone. This compound was a moderately potent inhibitor of HIV reverse transcriptase.
