Abstract
The author presents the translation, validation, and adaptation of the Miller Behavioral Style Scale (MESS) to be used with Spanish-speaking individuals. Results of the Spanish version of the MESS (MBSS-S) are similar to those obtained with the original instrument. The MBSS-S sho ws good test-retest values and appropriate alpha coefficients. Our wor k also shows that a reduced version (MESS-SR) can be used without dist orting the results that would be obtained with the complete scale. Sci entists interested in transcultural work will benefit by using the MBS S-S as well as the MESS-SR. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
