Abstract
This chapter defines technology transfer and describes the stages of t echnology transfer in the field of substance use prevention. The autho rs note the relevance of concepts surrounding (1) innovation and chang e and (2) diffusion for transferring preventive intervention technolog ies. The authors then consider factors that influence the success and speed of technology transfer, and discuss strategies to enhance the te chnology transfer of interventions for preventing substance use.
