Abstract
Munchausen's syndrome has been acknowledged for many years, receiving
the name in 1951. In this article, the prevalence, patient characteris
tics, clinical presentations, possible concurrent conditions, aetiolog
ical factors, differential diagnosis, management and cost (to the pati
ents and NHS) will be discussed.
