Abstract
Successive addition of BuLi, triethylsilyl chloride, s-BuLi and DMF to 1-(N,N-dimethylsulfamoyl)imidazole (1) yields pure lfamoyl)-2-(trieth ylsilyl)imidazole-4-carbaldehyde (2) as judged by H-1 NMR spectroscopy . Treatment of 2 with 2 N HCl leads to free imidazole-4-carbaldehyde ( 3) (overall yield 70.2%).
