Abstract
The reorientation of dye molecules in a polymer matrix was studied by use of electroabsorption spectroscopy. The described method is selecti ve to the relaxation process of the chromophores embedded in the matri x. The technique can be used to determine the fast relaxation processe s at high temperatures which are not observable in the time domain as well as for the observation of slow processes below the glass transiti on. The sensitivity of the new method is 0.1%wt of chromophore in the matrix. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
