Mr. Hargreaves et al., LARGE AIRWAY-OBSTRUCTION BY A CHRONIC DISSECTING AORTIC-ANEURYSM IN THE MARFAN-SYNDROME, Postgraduate medical journal, 73(865), 1997, pp. 726-728
We describe a patient with the Marfan syndrome who presented with an a
cute aortic dissection. She underwent composite graft replacement of t
he aortic root. She returned two years later with dyspnoea and strider
due to tracheal compression by a large chronic dissection of the thor
acic aorta. Marfan patients are at risk of chronic dissection involvin
g the remaining distal aorta and require regular noninvasive assessmen
t following surgery.
