The near tip field of mode II crack that grows in thin bodies with pow
er hardening or perfectly plastic behavior is analyzed. It is shown th
at for power hardening behavior, the pseudo plane stress field possess
es the logarithm singularity, i.e. sigma similar to(ln r)(2/(n-1)), ep
silon similar to(ln r)(2n/(n-1)), where r is the distance from the cra
ck tip, n the hardening exponent that is epsilon similar to sigma(n).
When n --> infinity the solution reduced to that for the perfectly pla
