Abstract
Optical investigations were performed for Li2B4O7 single crystals dope d with K and Ag. Our theoretical predictions indicate a possible incre ase of the nonlinear optical susceptibilities in such crystalline syst ems. We have revealed a dependence of the electrooptical coefficient o n type and concentration of the dopant. Calculations of energy band st ructure and resulting linear optical parameters have been carried out for the K-and Ag-doped Li2B4O7 single crystals. Increasing potassium c oncentration leads to a decrease of the electrooptical coefficient, wh ile increasing silver concentration causes just an opposite effect. (C ) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
