Abstract
Impending or occured pathological fractures of long bones due to skele tal metastases need interdisciplinary management. Surgical stabilizati on is the first of further concomitant steps in treatment like radiati on, hormonal or chemotherapy. For that purpose a respresentative sampl e of metastatic tissue should be taken, so that histological and immun ohistochemical determination can lead to an optimated supporting thera py. Transluminal bone biopsy before planned intramedular stabilization seems to be a suitable method, simply, safe and fast to handle.
