H. Scherrer et al., EFFECT OF ONE-DIMENSIONAL ELECTRICAL-CONDUCTION ON THE THERMOELECTRICFIGURE OF MERIT, PHYSICS OF LOW-DIMENSIONAL STRUCTURES, 10, 1997, pp. 77-84
The carriers mobility in quasi-one-dimensional cylindrical quantum wir
es with infinite potential confinement as a function of wire thickness
has been calculated. The carriers scattering both on optical and acou
stical phonons is taken into account. It is found that the mobility de
creases with the decreasing of wire thickness from values greater to v
alues much smaller than the bulk mobility. This effect substantially r
educes the predicted earlier significant increase in the figure of mer
it of materials prepared in a form of very thin quantum wires.
