The first synthesis of the parent TMM-C-60 adduct 1 was achieved by me
ans of Pd-o-mediated [3 + 2] cycloaddition and its structure was unamb
iguously proved by spectroscopic means (H-1 and C-13 NMR and MS); a pe
ntane solution of the adduct 1 exhibited a fluorescence emission spect
rum with lambda(max) 704 nm and vibronic fine structure at ambient tem
perature.
