Abstract
The deleterious effects of alcohol misuse among Aboriginal Australians have been well documented and are widely acknowledged by Aboriginal p eople. However, most academic discussion has attempted to explain the demand for alcohol by Aboriginal people. In this review we argue for a n analysis of the political economy of Aboriginal alcohol use which al so focuses on the supply and promotion of alcohol. Our own research an d that of others demonstrates the utility of such an approach and the practical benefits it offers for harm minimisation strategies.
