Jr. Moyano et al., STUDY OF THE COMPLEXATION BEHAVIOR OF GLICLAZIDE WITH PARTIALLY METHYLATED BETA-CYCLODEXTRIN IN SOLUTION AND SOLID-STATE, International journal of pharmaceutics, 157(2), 1997, pp. 239-243
The complexation of Gliclazide (GL) with a partially methylated P-cycl
odextrin was studied. Phase-solubility and H-1 NMR spectroscopy were e
mployed to investigate the complexation behaviour in solution and to d
emonstrate the complexation in liquid medium with the participation of
both azabicyclooctyl and tolyl moieties of GL in the inclusion proces
s. Solid systems prepared by kneading, co-grinding and spray drying ha
ve also been checked, using DSC and HSM, for assessing the formation o
f the inclusion compound. Experimental evidence of the complexation be
tween drug and cyclodextrin was reported for the co-ground and spray-d
ried systems. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
