Abstract
Studies on the solvatochromic behaviour of N-methyl-4- and l-2-[(4-dim ethylaminophenyl)iminomethyl]pyridinium iodide dyes in a variety of so lvents and the preferential solvation of the former dye in binary mixt ures of protic and non-protic solvents me presented and interpreted in terms of solute-solvent and solvent-solvent interactions.
