B. Fady et Rd. Westfall, MATING SYSTEM PARAMETERS IN A NATURAL-POPULATION OF ABIES BORISII REGIS MATTFELD, Annales des Sciences Forestieres, 54(7), 1997, pp. 643-647
Isozymes were used to estimate mating system parameters of one natural
Abies borisii regis population from the Pertouli forest, Thessaly, Gr
eece. Starch gel electrophoresis was performed and 17 trees were genot
yped for seven variable loci using open-pollinated seeds. Under the mi
xed mating model, selfing rate was significantly different from zero a
lthough outcrossing accounted for 94% of all zygotes formed. The paren
tal fixation index was significantly lower than zero, indicating heter
ozygote excess. A limited number of parents was shown to participate i
n the matings.
