Abstract
A new approach to the synthesis of oligonucleotides and oligonucleotid e phosphorothioates in solution is described; it is based on H-phospho nate coupling at 40 degrees C, followed by in situ sulfur-transfer wit h either N-[(4chlorophenyl)sulfanyl]phthalimide 19 or 4-[(2-cyanoethyl )sulfanyl]morpholine-3,5-dione 21.
