Abstract
The thermal performance of a non-conditioned building fitted with an i ndirect evaporative cooler (IEC) has been investigated in terms of hou rly, monthly and seasonal discomfort index. The effect of various desi gn parameters of the IEC on the discomfort index has been investigated for three different climatic areas of India, i.e. hot-dry, warm, humi d and composite. The analysis has shown that the IEC is effective for creating thermal comfort conditions in buildings in dry-hot and compos ite climates. (C) 1997 by John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
