Abstract
Fully thioated antisense molecules are often cytotoxic and non-specifi c in action. GPI2A is thioated at 7 base positions. GPI2A posses seque nce-specific activity against HIV-1 gene expression and viral replicat ion without significant cytotoxicity. Partial thioation did not compro mise its uptake, cellular distribution and nuclease resistance.
