LAPAROSCOPIC SURGERY FOR CANCER-PATIENTS

Laparoscopy is an effective tool for diagnosis and staging of malignan cies. Laparoscopic resection of abdominal tumors has been performed ra rely, with two exceptions: laparoscopic adrenalectomy and laparoscopic resection of colorectal cancer. One of the best applications of minim ally invasive surgery is the use of laparoscopic techniques for pallia tion of abdominal cancer. Requiring thorough training and preparation of surgeons and mandating their strict credentialing will reduce the r isk of complications from laparoscopic surgery.
