N. Chebotareva et T. Nyokong, FIRST-ROW TRANSITION-METAL PHTHALOCYANINES AS CATALYSTS FOR WATER ELECTROLYSIS - A COMPARATIVE-STUDY, Electrochimica acta, 42(23-24), 1997, pp. 3519-3524
Modification of carbon electrodes with first row transition metal phth
alocyanines results in the lowering of the potentials needed for water
electrolysis in basic media, by 600 to 700 mV when compared to unmodi
fied carbon electrodes. Nickel(II), cobalt(II) and iron(II) phthalocya
nines show higher catalytic activity than zinc(II), manganese(II), cop
per(II) and metal free phthalocyanines.
