On the basis of a developmental approach, the author emphasises the im
portance of the systematic interpretation of the transference in the h
ere-and-now. Working through the essential object-related conflicts an
d the corresponding motivations when they are affectively intense and
can be shown most convictingly to the patient in the analytic session,
is - in her mind - the most powerful instrument for the creation of i
nsight. Refering to the concept of the past unconscious and the presen
t unconscious, she describes the dynamic and structural background of
transference interpretations and, finally, illustrates her views by cl
inical material from the beginning phase of an analysis.
