The Po brook lamprey, Lethenteron zanandreai (Vladykov, 1955) was foun
d in the Neretva river basin, southern Croatia. This is the first disc
overy of this species on the Adriatic slope of the Balkan Peninsula an
d is further evidence for ancient connections of the rivers from both
slopes of the Adriatic Sea during the extended phase of the River Po.
