The wetfastness of polyester fiber dyed with disperse dyes was studied
. The degree of thermomigration was found to be the most important fac
tor that can lower wetfastness on polyester, In addition to thermomigr
ation, investigation of the affinity of each disperse dye on fiber for
staining is important. Three target dye properties were found useful
for development of new disperse dyes with high wetfastness properties-
low degree of thermomigration, reduced solubility in the laundering ba
th, and easy decomposition in the laundering bath.
