Abstract
The structural properties of Co-containing ZSM5 and faujasite-type zeo lites prepared by solid-state ion-exchange methods have been studied. In both types of zeolites complete exchange of the acidic protons was achieved when Co was present in excess. On ZSM5 only one proton was ex changed for each Co2+ cation, while on faujasite two protons were exch anged with one Co2+ cation. The solid-state ion exchange resulted in t he generation of new Lewis acid sites.
