Abstract
It is well known that the two-dimensional Poisson-Voronoi tesselation does not conform to the Aboav-Weaire law for the average number of sid es for the neighbours of an n-sided cell. We offer a variant of Weaire 's original derivation which takes into account certain features of th is type of pattern, and results in a different form of the law, which is similar to that found from computer simulation.
