Abstract
Amyloidoses are protein-derived metabolic disorders caused by the depo sition of amyloid of chemically different structures in a variety of t issues. They occur in numerous animal species. Chronic inflammatory or tumorous processes can be the underlying condition, but frequently th e pathogenesis is not clear. Clinical signs develop depending on the d egree of the amyloid deposits and on the organs involved, Treat ment i s mainly directed against the predisposing disease.
