Vk. Kapoor et N. Mahindroo, RECENT ADVANCES IN STRUCTURE MODIFICATIONS OF TAXOL (PACLITAXEL), Indian journal of chemistry. Sect. B: organic chemistry, including medical chemistry, 36(8), 1997, pp. 639-652
Taxol (paclitaxel), a complex polyoxygenated diterpene isolated origin
ally from the bark of Taxus brevifolia is a promising anticancer agent
in the treatment of ovarian and breast cancer. The molecule has been
extensively modified during the last few years in a bid to enhance its
water solubility and to improve its therapeutic profile. The present
review gives an account of the recent developments in the structure mo
difications of taxol and comments on the structure activity relationsh
ips of the analogues.
