Pd. Mishra et al., STEROIDS FROM MARINE SPONGES SUBERITES-VESTIGIUM AND CHROTELLA-AUSTRALIENSIS, Indian journal of chemistry. Sect. B: organic chemistry, including medical chemistry, 36(8), 1997, pp. 719-721
The sponges Suberites vestigium and Chrotella australiensis have been
examined for steroids. Both the sponges contain C27-29 mono and diunsa
turated sterols, in addition sponge C. australiensis contains cholest-
4-ene-3-one and 24-ethyl cholest-4-ene-3-one. Batyl alcohol and its hi
gher homologue have also been identified in S. vestigium. This is firs
t report of steroids from these sponges.
