A series of new asymmetrically substituted tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) de
rivatives, a charge transfer (CT) complex, and several related symmetr
ical TTF derivatives were synthesized. The compounds were characterize
d by elemental analysis, H-1 NMR spectra, LR spectra, and electron ion
ization (EI) or negative-ion fast atom bombardment (FAB) mass spectral
analysis. UV-Vis spectra of the new asymmetrical TTF derivatives and
the CT complex in solution were investigated. In addition, mixed condu
cting Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films were constructed from the asymmetri
cal TTF derivatives by admiring with an equimolar arachidic acid. (C)
