Pa. Vandamme et Maw. Merkx, A MODIFICATION OF THE TIBIAL BONE-GRAFT-HARVESTING TECHNIQUE, International journal of oral and maxillofacial surgery, 25(5), 1996, pp. 346-348
A modified method of tibial bone-graft harvesting is presented. A holl
ow, cylindric, hand-driven instrument is used to harvest the graft at
the medial slope of the tibial tuberosity. Satisfactory amounts of aut
ogenous cancellous bone graft are available to bridge osteotomy gaps a
nd facial fractures, fill smaller defects, and even obliterate a front
al sinus. There is minimal donor-site morbidity, and complications hav
e not been seen in a series of nine consecutive patients.
