An algorithm for diagnosing damage accumulation in a turbogenerator ro
tor shaft is proposed for all types of turbogenerator operating condit
ions. The method developed is based on determining mechanical torques
arising during transients by measuring values of phase voltages and cu
rrents. Using the known mechanical properties of the shaft material, t
he life reduction of the shaft that is due to torsional oscillations a
fter a transient is found. Depending on the load, short-term or long-t
