Abstract
As is the case in other Variscan massifs of Europe, the Devonian-Carbo niferous sedimentary and plutonic units of the Polish Sudetes were str ongly overprinted in Late Paleozoic times. The geomagnetic poles of th ese overprints draw a nearly continuous curve which is parallel to the polar wander curve of Variscan Europe from the Lower Carboniferous to the Middle Permian and which fits with the APWP from the Middle Permi an to the Upper Jurassic. The consistency of the poles with the APWP o f Europe allows the dating of the overprints and involves a geodynamic al evolution of the Sudetes similar to that of the westerly massifs.
