An improved synthesis for ferrocenyldichlorophosphane, FcPCl(2) (Fc =
C5H4FeC5H5) is reported. The availability of this compound gives acces
s to the other, previously unknown members of the homologous ferroceny
ldihalophosphane series, FcPX(2) (X = F, Br, I). The latter are charac
terised by NMR and high-resolution mass spectroscopy. The class of fer
rocenyldihalophosphanes is a valuable synthon for the generation of a
large variety of ferrocenylphosphanes.
